When I first heard about blogging, I thought most blog posts were centered around entertainment-based topics like food, travel, or fashion. Now that I know more about blogging, I learned it can be used as a learning tool to build on the knowledge learned. This tool can be used in both professional and personal settings. Blogging can make learning more engaging through collaboration with others, allows time for personal reflection, and gives learners the opportunity to have some fun!
Blogging gives students extra practice with their communication and conversation skills through the drafting of posts (NSU Florida, 2019). Students can leave comments on blog posts allowing ideas to be shared. For professionals, blogs could be used as a way to gain examples of how to apply the ideas shared within their own business or workplace.
Tools like blogging can also be used to help with the administrative aspect of courses. The teacher can use a blog to post questions and give more details about assignment criteria (Lujan-Mora, et. al., 2007). There could even be enhancements made to the course based on the exchange between the student and instructor. For example, if several students are asking questions in the blog discussion about an aspect of the assignment, then this could identify a need to revise the description of the assignment or clarify it for future classes. Blogging is a game changer for the future of learning and pushes knowledge sharing to the next level!
