I created a video to describe ways that immersive learning environments can be used in a corporate environment. In this video I outlined three ways that immersive learning could be used. The three ways were:
1.) Corporate Onboarding
2.) Team Building
3.) Soft Skill Training
There are several ways to use VR, AR, or simulated learning environments to execute the courses. I choose Soft Skill Training to develop a little further in conversation. In my day-to-day work, there are many times that I am training employees who will be sitting in a call center environment and they need to be skilled at conflict resolution. This soft skill training course will focus on scenarios for developing and practicing effective conflict resolution when dealing with an upset customer. These scenarios will be based on real-life situations that the employees may find themselves in while on the job.
Thinking about all the different ways that immersive learning can be used in the workplace to train folks is exciting. The real challenge is for us as instructional designers to stay current on the latest tools and technology so that we can integrate these into our work.
My goal as an instructional designer is to keep learning and growing my skillset and be a promoter of idea sharing and collaboration!!
